So a new Toys R’ Us opened yesterday and I went to the opening with my ma. It was a lot of fun. I love toys and toy stores. Love love love.

In the store we saw the Animal Planet toys. This was one of them,a set of dinosaurs. I found what this dino had to say was hilarious!

That day I ended up making one grand purchase. Not the dinos, although I am always tempted to add more to my collection. I bought a Batman Lego set, my Achilles heel when it comes to toys. I’m actually a sucker for all that Lego has to offer. But this set was special to me. A set that had been hard for me to find elsewhere. Lego Super Heroes: Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape Set 6857.

This is part of the set. Riddler, Joker, Batman, and Robin. The set also includes Harley Quinn but she is out of the shot. In this scene, Robin has been captured by the combined cunning of the Joker the Riddler. They’ve taken Robin to a funhouse where they’ve handcuffed him and are hanging him from his feet. The Joker has his remote to set off an explosive to eliminate Robin. As Robin is fearing for his life and the Joker and the Riddler are laughing at his dispair, Batman appears on his motorcycle with his batarang in hand, ready to spoil the villains’ plot. I used Snapseed and Picfx to edit the photo.

And here is Harley <3. She is the biggest reason why this set was important for me. I really wanted a Harley for my Lego collection. She is riding in a roller coaster car. I know the background is not great but I moved her there because of the lighting. I edited this with Snapseed and Picfx. I will probably be taking more pictures of this set and the characters in the near future.

Taken at a Petco, this photo is of a lizard. He must’ve been so still because I cropped the image a lot and it still is really sharp, especially for a phone. I love it.

This is a Storm Trooper in the window of Heroes and Fantasies. The have some really awesome full size figures there.

I was sentenced to jury duty and this was the courtyard next to the court house.

This was a man inside the hallway of the court house. I was waiting to see if I was going to get picked to be on the jury and while I waited in the hallway I took a picture of this guy. I tried to be inconspicuous. I don’t think he noticed. I had to crop a lot because I could not get closer. I did end up getting picked for the jury. One whole day of waiting and then two afternoons on a jury.

This is a display they had at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus (I never shop at any of them, that’s why I don’t know which is which). I was there accompanying my mom and my sister. I took this shot while riding the escalator.

This I took in my friend’s backyard. It’s overgrown with these. He also has a lot of trees back there so it gave this really nice lighting.

I love photographing my Legos. This one is from Minifigure Series 8. She’s an Alien Villainess. Her aspiration is to take over the universe one planet at a time.

This is a moth sunbathing on my porch. I liked how monochromatic it was. I didn’t do much to the picture as far as editing.

I did two versions of this photograph of my friend as we were waiting for his coffee at a Starbucks inside Target. This one I like because of the colors, its warm and dreamy.

This version is very cool. I liked them both and couldn’t decide which to post.

My sister made these little cheesecakes for New Years. In the middle is a blackberry. She had put them in the freezer to harden and when I took one out this is what it looked like. It was so interesting and pretty to me. In the end it was also very delicious.

I suppose that is all for last year. Unless I dig up lost photos while I empty my phone. Happy New Year!

I never do anything with the photos I take and edit on my iPhone, so I have decided this is the perfect place to post those photos.

Taken under SH 45 in Austin/Round Rock, TX. My friends, Joe and Miguel, and I were bored and wanted to take some photos and this is were we ended up. It was hard to walk on the rocks. I might have fallen that night but I can’t remember. I have fallen on a couple of our photo excursions. I must not be well-balanced. Edited April 10. Not really sure what app I used to edit it.

Taken at the LBJ Library in Austin, TX. My nephew had sent me a Flat Stanley to photograph in different places in Austin so Miguel and I stopped here to photograph Stanley at the LBJ Museum next to the library. On the walk to the museum I looked up and saw this beautiful architecture of the library. It has to be my favorite iPhone photo yet. Edited April 18. I believe I used the Snapseed app to edit.

Taken at my apartment. These are my two guinea pigs, Broc Samson (white with brown spots) and Remi (all white with one panda eye… I wonder if a guinea pig panda exists. It would be TOO cute). We were hanging out on the couch and I was photographing them while they were scurrying around in the red sheet. This was taken at an instant when they were just relaxing after eating a carrot. Edited June 12. Started editing on Snapseed then finished on Instant110.

Taken at St. Dominic Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. Miguel was there taking some photos of a wedding rehearsal, of which he was going to be shooting the wedding later that month, and I tagged a long. I waited outside and photographed on my iPhone. The sun was starting to set. Edited June 22. I used Snapseed to edit. It’s my favorite photo editing app on the iPhone (as you may notice) because it does so much. You can crop and straighten. You can change the brightness, contrast, saturation, and white balance of the overall picture or just certain spots. You can vignette, you can add a tilt-shift effect, and you can sharpen. It has a lot of other effects too but what I wrote is mainly why I use it. It’s the best :).

Taken outside from my front porch. Miguel sent me a text that the sky looked really awesome so I went outside with my phone to check it out. This is what it looked like. It was cool. Edited July 5. I used Instant110.

Taken on my driveway. I was walking to my car when I saw this cat. It is not clearly visible from the photo but the cat is missing an eye. I don’t see it often but sometimes it comes back to my house either to pass through my backyard at night or take shade on my porch during the day. Like all other stray cats I’ve come across, it runs away once I get too close. The tire on the left is of my dad’s boat. Edited July 14. I used Snapseed to brighten the cat, to crop, tilt-shift, and vignette. I finished it on Instagram.

Taken in my backyard. We have a pecan tree that squirrels love. This day I was working on some stuff on my computer and I looked out and saw the squirrel. I took the picture from pretty far away and through the glass door. It’s not my best but I still enjoy it. Edited August 5. I know I used Snapseed to crop in and do the tilt-shift blur but I used a different app for the color and border.

Porfolio Review

The portfolio review last week with Adam Voorhes, George Brainard, Kimberly Davis went really well.

They really enjoyed my work and gave me good critiques on how to make all of my work more cohesive. They also gave me little suggestions on how to improve certain images.

It was very helpful and at the same time gave me more confidence in the work I am doing.

Well I did not find any promos that I found helpful to me. A photo editor has some images of promos that stood out here which can be helpful to see what stands out. He just collected a bunch that caught his attention and photographed them.

This is also an interesting promo piece that is in an instant camera. It’s an emergency photo kit by Clint Davis.

Casey Templeton had an interesting idea for his promo. He put a day in his life in a box along with his work.
